Product Fave: L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Blush

Hello friends! Happy Monday! Today I want to mention a product that I reach for whenever I’m getting ready in a hurry–which is most mornings! The L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Blushes are a gel formula that gives your cheeks a super natural flushed look.

I have the shade Soft Berry which is bright pink when blended out, but there’s also Soft Pink which is a natural pink and Soft Peach which is the most sheer option. I like to squeeze out a small amount and pat it on with my fingers. Keep in mind that this does set pretty quickly so don’t take too long blending! This shade looks like a natural “just in from the cold” flush and lasts all day long. The only downside is that they are pricey at about $15 where I live so definitely wait for a sale.

These are not usually products that I would try but I’m so glad that I did. Let me know if you’re planning on trying them! Have a great week!

Best and Worst Drugstore Concealers

Happy Thursday, friends! Today I’m bringing you a best and worst list of a few of the drugstore concealers that I’ve tried. I’ve never done a post like this so be sure to let me know if it’s something you’re interested in!

Concealers aren’t really something I’m super interested in so I don’t tend to try too many out. If I find one that has good coverage, that blends well and that lasts all day then I’m happy. I had heard a ton of hype surrounding the Maybelline Age Rewind concealers so I figured I’d give them a go. I looked around at the display and picked a shade that looked like it would match me the best. For concealers, I use them mainly under my eyes so I want something that is a touch brighter than my skin with a bit of a pink undertone. I thought that the shade Light looked like the closest one to what I wanted. Now I really liked how easily it blended out and I found that it gave decent coverage for such a thin formula. However, the shade was way too yellow to the point where it looked quite strange under my eyes. I also don’t love applicators where you have to click the product up because I find it can get really gunky. Unfortunately, this guy is a pass.

You guys know that the Revlon Colorstay Foundation is my holy grail foundation, so I thought I should try the Colorstay Concealer. Now, finding shades that work for my skin can often be difficult since I am so pale, but when looking at the selection I found all of the options looked really yellow but gave 02 Light a try anyway. First off, I found this guy to end up really streaky once you start to blend it out so it’s tough to get good coverage under the eyes. On blemishes it just kind of blends away to nothing and gives nearly no coverage at all. And just as I had expected, it was super yellow on my skin.

A concealer that I do love though is the Maybelline Fit Me. I have it in the shade Fair and find it to be just pink enough to cover up the blue tones under my eyes but it also matches the rest of my skin really well. I’ve never run into any problems with creasing or fading throughout the day, so this guy is a winner in my books!

Top to bottom: Maybelline Fit Me in Light, Revlon Colorstay in 02 Light, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Light.

I don’t have this one anymore but I do want to mention the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch concealers. These guys are really great highlighting concealers so if you’re looking to brighten up the under eye, or any part of the face, they’re great! They blend out super easily and are really nice and creamy.

What’s on your list for best and worst drugstore concealers? Let me know! Thank you all for hanging out today and I’ll see you on Monday!

Product Fave: Nyx Eyebrow Cake Powder

Hey everyone! Hope you have all been doing great! Brows have been a huge trend over the past year on Instagram and all across social media. However, it often takes a while for the drugstore to jump in with affordable options that can stand their own against the higher end products. I came across this brow powder from Nyx in December and have been absolutely loving it!

These brow powders are available in 6 different shades, each comes with two brow powders, a brow gel, an angled brush and a spoolie. I have the shade dark brown and I find that the two shades work really we’ll with my colouring. They blend out easily and I’ve never experienced any fading throughout the day. The brow gel is a nice thing to have for travel, though I do prefer a standard brow gel most days.

Overall I think that these are an exciting and budget friendly option for achieving naturally filled in brows. Since they are powders, you have a ton of control as to how bold the final look is.

What are your favourite brow products? I’d love to hear what you’re hoping to see from the drugstore next! Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you on Monday!

Back To School Makeup Faves!

Hello friends! I’ve always been a huge fan of anything labeled ‘Back To School’ since this has always been a very exciting time of year for me. I am a big believer that you should always wear whatever makes you feel beautiful regardless of what others thing so I always had a tendency to wear much more makeup than my peers. However, for the days when I have a super early class or just don’t want to spend a ton of time getting ready, these are the products I turn to.

I like to start out with the Essence Say No To Dark Circles eye brightener. This is a really nice light pink stick concealer that just does a lovely job of brightening up dark circles so you don’t have to use as much concealer. It’s a step that takes about 10 seconds but will make a huge difference in the final look. Next up I go with my favourite foundation, the Revlon Colourstay for combination/oily skin. It gives a great amount of coverage and looks flawless all day. My go to concealer for under my eyes and on any spots is the Maybelline Fit Me. I have raved on and on about this guy and can’t get enough!

You all know that I love bronzer and my favourite one to warm up my skin and give a subtle contour is Benefit’s Hoola. I like to apply this on my temples, my cheekbones and down my neck with a big fluffy brush for a look that’s natural and pretty. I’ve recently gotten into this L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Blush. It’s a super strange gel like consistency but when you sheer it out with a brush it gives you gorgeous ‘just in from the cold’ flush. On busy mornings I like to use the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Hourglass Beige as a highlight since you can quickly apply it with your fingers. I use it on my cheekbones, down my nose, on my brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes to brighten my skin.

The last step for this speedy makeup look is mascara. Maybelline The Rocket waterproof is my favourite mascara ever! It separates, holds a curl and gives a really nice amount of volume! Then I go on top of that with any volumizing mascara. Lately I’ve been loving Tarte’s Tarteist Lash Paint ever since I reviewed it a few weeks back! (Check out that post here!

What are your go to makeup products for a quick Back To School look? Be sure to let me know! Plenty more Back To School posts to come, so stay tuned! Thank you all so much for hanging out and I’ll see you on Thursday!

Product Fave: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush

Hello everyone! It’s a brand new week and we are kicking it off with a product that I have been falling in love with over the past few months! ❤

Back in December, I shared with you guys some makeup and skincare that I got at the Sephora Black Friday Sales. Tarte released a set including deluxe sizes of their Maracuja Oil, their Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara and their Amazonian Clay Blush.

I have the shade Fanciful and it is really the perfect everyday blush for my skin. It is a matte soft pink that blends beautifully and lasts all day. For days when I’m looking for something with a little more oomph, I’ll add a blush with some shimmer on top to give it a different finish. I’m definitely going to be checking out more shades from this line!

What is your go to blush? I’d love to hear about your Product Faves! 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great week!

Fashion Feature: Tom’s Strappy Wedges

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! I love wearing heels because they’re a great way to complete an outfit and make you feel instantly put together. But during the summer months I tend to do a lot of walking around while shopping or just enjoying the nice weather, which can make my feet hurt a lot. I have finally found an awesome pair of wedges that are super cute while still being comfy!

I was browsing at Nordstrom with my sister one day and these guys caught my eye. They’re by Tom’s who are known for making really comfortable shoes as a part of their iconic donation plan. They were on sale for only $65 from an original $120 which is absolutely amazing!

The sole is a lightly padded cotton that really helps cushion your feet when you’ve been standing for a while. They are truly the easiest pair of shoes that I own–they go with everything, and no matter where I’m going I know that they will go with my outfit. They’ve quickly become a staple in my summer wardrobe!

What are your favourite comfy summer shoes? I’m a shoe addict so I’d love to hear about them! Please let me know what you would like to see for future Fashion Features and have an awesome day!

Sephora Birthday Gift 2016

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great Canada Day weekend! Every year, beauty addicts look forward to Sephora’s birthday gifts! These are little sets that VIB members can pickup for free during their birthday month. There are two options this year: a mini skincare set from Fresh and a duo from Marc Jacobs cosmetics.

The Fresh set is great for someone that’s looking to change up their skincare routine with some of their best products. You get a travel size of their Soy Face Cleanser, which is a gentle cleanser meant to remove all makeup and clean any impurities out from your skin. You also get a deluxe sample size of the hydrating and toning Rose Face Mask.

I’m always nervous about trying new skincare because of how sensitive my skin is so I thought I’d experiment with the Marc Jacobs set instead. I’ve heard a ton about this line but haven’t had the chance to try anything yet. With this kit, you get a travel size of their Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blaqueur and a mini Le Marc Lip Creme in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

I am honestly so in love with both of these! The eyeliner is super black and stays put all day without any fading or creasing. It also smudges out beautifully to create a more smokey look. The lipstick is super creamy and sets to a satin demi-matte finish while still feeling super comfortable on the lips. It’s a gorgeous soft pink that makes for an easy and subtle pop of colour for summer.

Which set do you think looks best? Thank you all so much for stopping by and have a great week! 🙂

Product Fave: Covergirl Instant Cheekbones Blush

Hello friends! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend! You guys know that I am always on the lookout for incredible products with an affordable price tag. A little trick to finding great deals at the drugstore is to look around at products that have been around for a while. They’re usually stocked much better than the new releases and are much less expensive.

I was browsing other makeup blogs reading about their favourite drugstore makeup and Covergirl’s Instant Cheekbones Contouring Blush came up a lot. There are three shades in each palette: a standard blush colour, a deeper tone and a highlight. I got the shade 220 Purely Plum and the quality of these shades is absolutely amazing! What I love about these is that they’re incredibly versatile. I like to mix the two blush shades together and then use the highlight on the tops of my cheekbones.

They blend out super easily and last all day. They’re super shimmery–in a good way!–and give your cheeks to most gorgeous summer glow. But the showstopper for me is really the highlight! I have such a hard time finding great highlighters from the drugstore, especially when they’re found in palettes like this one. But this shade is a gorgeous cool toned pink that gives you a really intense look! I also love to use it on my eyes!

Look at how amazing they look when they catch the light!

I found this guy at Walmart for around $6 and for three amazing products that’s pretty great! Can’t believe I didn’t discover it sooner!

What are your old school drugstore faves? Thank you so much for stopping by and I’ll talk to you soon!

Product Fave: Urban Decay Naked Flushed

Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend! It’s time for another addition to the Product Fave series where I share with you the products that I can always rely on to be great.

In my last post, I shared with you some of my favourite highlighters to create a dewy glow. Many brands have been putting out contouring kits that provide a mix of bronzers, contours, highlights and blushes. A few months ago, my sister gave me the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette in Native. There are four different shade options and each comes with a bronzer, a blush and a highlight.

The bronzer shade in this palette is a warm and shimmery colour that I honestly had mixed feelings about at first since you know that I’m all about matte bronzers. But lately I’ve been dusting this around my temples, under my cheekbones and down my neck and loving the look it gives. It leaves your skin with a very natural and healthy glow. The blush is a very bright matte pink that I wouldn’t say is my favourite blush but I can make it work when travelling and only wanting to bring this palette. You also get a beautiful cool toned highlight that just gives the most wonderful sparkle to your skin.

This is definitely a pricey item but I love the convenience of having three great products in one sleek palette that you can easily pack with you. I’ll for sure be taking this with me when travelling throughout the summer.

What have been some of your favourite products? Thanks so much for stopping by!

Favourite Highlighters

Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend! Contouring and highlighting have become a huge craze and I have seriously been upping my highlight game over the past few months. I have a few favourite products that I wanna share with you all today that are perfect for making you look gorgeous and glowy.

First up is a total cult classic, Mac Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle. This is a really gorgeous cool toned highlight that’s ideal if you’re into a super dewy look. I like to dust this on with a fan brush when I’m going for something that’s not too in your face. This guy also looks great on the body if you want to add some extra glow to a tan. (Who doesn’t want that?) It’s definitely pricey at $37 but highlighters are the kind of product that you can easily buy one and have it last you forever. Find it here:

Next up is Benefit’s Highbeam which I have already briefly mentioned in my review on Benefit’s Christmas collection. This is a liquid highlight that again will give you that very cool toned pinky glow. I think this is an awesome product for summer as many people don’t wear as much makeup and like to opt for more cream and liquid products. This gives you a really beautiful and natural looking ‘glow from within’ but doesn’t getting bunchy like many liquid products do. Make sure not to put this on top of powder though because it won’t blend out and will get kind of patchy. I tend to prefer powder products in general–for blushes, eyeshadows, everything–just because I find them easier to use but if this formula is your thing then definitely give this one a shot because it’s a beautiful colour. Get it here:

Left to right: Mac Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle, Benefit High Beam, Loreal Infallible Hourglass Beige

Highlighters are slowly starting to make their way into drugstores which is awesome, but I haven’t been totally wowed by any yet. However, Loreal’s Infallible Eyeshadow in Hourglass Beige is absolutely gorgeous. For those of you that haven’t tried these, they are a hybrid between a loose pigment and a pressed shadow, making them super pigmented and smooth. This is a beautiful champagne colour that is super shimmery without being glittery, which makes it amazing to use on the inner corners of the eyes, brow bone, cheeks and of course for it’s intended purpose, the eyes. This is best applied with your fingers though because of it’s unique texture. Check out all of the Infallible shades here:

I hope this has helped any of you who are looking to add a new highlight to your collection. Feel free to let me know what your favourites are! Thanks so much for stopping by!
