Is it Worth the Buy? Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Happy Sunday, friends! Hope you all had a great Black Friday weekend! Today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on one of Too Faced’s most popular products.

The Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is a medium/deep toned matte bronzer with their famous sweet chocolate scent. I got a deluxe size of this when I bought a little trial set with 5 of their best selling products. You all know that Benefit’s Hoola bronzer is my all time favourite so this one had a lot to compete with. I think the overall tone is nice but for my skin tone it borders on being too warm so you have to be careful when applying it.

thumbnail_img_2337

I find that it looks really nice blended around the temples, cheeks and jawline to wake up your complexion and you can get get away with a really soft and subtle contour if you’re careful to not apply too much. My one complaint is that I find it tough to blend and since it’s such a deep tone that can be a serious issue. Building it up slowly with a fluffy powder brush seems to be the best way to deal with that.

Overall I think it’s a really nice matte bronzer with a fairly good tone. I think it works well in the summer time for those of us with fair skin and could work all year on deeper skin tones. Let me know your thoughts on the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer if you’ve tried it. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great Sunday.

Fall Decorations!

I hope you’ve all had a spooky Halloween! It’s been a crazy busy month for me but I’m finally caught up with school work so I figured I’d share with you all some of the decorations I had up for fall and Halloween. These are super easy and they work great for really small spaces!

img_2204_srgb

I didn’t really like many of the fall decorations I was finding so I figured that I would just pick up some fake leaves and make my own. I got a few that had little wire stems that I twisted together to make sets of three and I also got some tiny loose leaves that I glued to some twine. I put these up all around my room and on my door and they looked super cute! I don’t really have the patience to carve pumpkins so I bought a mini one at a grocery store and took a black sharpie and drew on a jack-o-lantern face. If you want to get more crafty and creative with pumpkins, I’d recommend using fake ones so that you can re-use them. That’ll save you a ton of money and effort!

What kind of decorations did you have for the spooky season? I’m always looking for new ideas! Now on to Christmas decor! Thank you all so much for stopping by!

My On-the-Go Makeup Bag

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’ve all been doing well and that you had a great weekend! Since the new school year has started, many of us are on the go a lot so it’s important to make sure that you have all of the personal care items you’ll need with you.

img_2130_srgb

I find it easiest to keep everything I know I’ll need in this little makeup bag from Sephora. This way, if you want to switch out your purse, all you have to do is grab this bag and you won’t have to worry about forgetting anything. I always recommend keeping bandaids and hand sanitizer with you. I get blisters all the time and have finally learned that it’s best to just always have several bandaids with you. And hand sanitizer is just a necessity for when you’re on the go–once you start carrying it you’ll be surprised at how often it comes in handy!

img_2131_srgb

Since I usually end up leaving in a rush, I like to keep some products for the finishing touches of my routine. White eyeliner is my go-to for looking well rested so I always keep one with me for touch ups. I also often end up throwing whatever lipstick I’ll wear that day in here, so I keep this universal lipliner since it will keep any shade of lipstick from feathering outside the lines.

img_2132_srgb

As I mentioned, I’ll change out my lip product everyday, but the only lippies that I consistently take with me are my Burts Bees lip balm and a Toyshop Sheer Lip in Applause. For more natural days, this lipstick gives a super nice pink colour that wakes up the face. Any nice tinted lip balm will do the trick! Lastly I keep some Duo Lash Glue since you never know when the inner corner of your lashes are gonna start popping off!

What do you keep in your on-the-go makeup bag? Thank you all so much for stopping by and I’ll see you soon!

Leaving Home for the First Time

Hi everyone! As many of you know, I’ve recently moved away from home to go to University. This is something that I know most of you are either experiencing now or will be in the near future so I figured that I would share some tips that I have to make the transition a little smoother. I moved out almost three weeks ago to live in a student residence at my school. I’m a very independent person so I knew that I would be alright but I was really nervous about leaving my family and my home for something completely new.

The first tip I have is to try and visit the place you’ll be moving to before you go. In March, my University had an open house where future students could come and have a look around. I went with my mum and we got to see where my classes would be, look at the building that I’d be living in and try out the cafeteria food. Even though I only spent a few hours there, getting to see what everything was like made me feel a whole lot better.

My sister is my best friend so leaving her has been really tough on both of us, but something that has really helped is planning visits in advance. My school is about 3 and a half hours from where I’m from so I can come home on weekends when I need to. Before I left, my sister and I sat down and planned out when I’d come home for visits and wrote them out in our planners. Being able to physically see how close your next trip home is makes it seem a lot less overwhelming.

My third tip is to call your residence home. I’ve noticed that so many people will say things like “I’m going back to my room” or “I’ll be in my room” instead of calling it home. It might seem strange, but just referring to it as home will make it feel more welcoming and much less distant. After all, a “room” is like a hotel room where you stay for a few nights and live out of suitcases, if you keep thinking of it like that you’ll never get fully settled.

That leads to my next tip, make it feel like home! Put up decorations, get a cute bedspread, put up some fairy lights–whatever you want! You’re going to be here for a long time and it’s important that you feel that this is a space where you feel comfortable and can study, hang out and relax.

Some decorations I’ve put on my door–sneak peak of an upcoming post!

Something that I was super nervous about was making friends and I felt like there was this pressure of making a bunch of friends within your first few days. Take your time, it’s okay to make friends as you go! I didn’t know anyone that was going to this school so I was going in totally alone. But you’ll find that because most other people are in the same situation, making friends will come pretty easily. Chat with the people that live around you and you’ll be surprised at how many cool people you could meet.

What would you guys give as tips for moving out? I’d love to hear them since I’m totally new at this too! I’m working on a post about how I’ve been decorating my new home so keep an eye out for that! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you soon.

Warby Parker Fall Collection 2016

Hi everyone! Fall is coming and that means that brands are bringing out all kinds of new and exciting collections that pair perfectly with cooler, cozier weather. Today I’m working with Warby Parker to announce their new collection, available now!

warby-parker-shot_02_carey_tansley_3100_dean_moriarty_3101_185_pr

We’ve all experienced how pricey good quality eyewear is and have maybe even had to pass on getting new frames because it’s just too much. Warby Parker designs glasses in-house to give you better-quality (and super stylish!) prescription frames at a much better price. On top of that, they work with organizations like VisionSpring so that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need.

I find that shopping for glasses can easily be overwhelming since most of the classic frames look the same, while anything more fashion forward can be too edgy for day to day. But in their Fall collection they’ve added really chic subtle details to classic frames so you can still be trendy without going overboard.

DIY Glitter Letter

Hello friends! How was your weekend? I’m so happy to see that you guys enjoyed my last DIY post so I figured that I’d bring you guys another really simple one today. Crafts like this are great for those of us that are looking to have cute decorations while sticking to a budget.

You will need:
-Foam core board
-Washi tape
-Two colours of fine craft glitter
-Craft glue
-A pencil
-A paint brush

Alrighty, so the first thing you want to do is start tracing a letter onto the board with a pencil. You can make it as complex or as simple as you want. I’m not a super crafty person so I went for a very basic shape just to make things easier. Then you want to start painting your craft glue on the design that you drew. It’s important that you try to keep the edges as clean as possible since the glitter will stick to anything that has glue on it.

img_2143

Now for the fun–and messy–part! Start to slowly pour the glitter onto your shape, with the darkest colour toward the top fading to a lighter colour at the bottom. Using your fingers, gently press the glitter into the glue. This will help to make your shape really opaque and evenly covered. Tip the excess glitter into a garbage and go over any areas that need more. Now just create a border with some washi tape and you’re set!

I think this is a great way to spruce up a room and would make an adorable gift for someone! I love to hear from you guys so be sure to tag me in pictures of your DIYs! Thank you all so so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next time!

Daytime Skincare Routine!

Happy Monday friends! For those of you that celebrated Thanksgiving over the weekend hope you had a lovely weekend 🙂 I spent most of mine visiting family but am just relaxing at home today.

phi-144_1z

I have super sensitive as well as combination/oily skin so it’s taken me months to finally find a routine that really works. About six months ago I discovered the Purity Made Simple cleanser by Philosophy. It is a very gentle cream consistency which makes it great for my sensitive skin as it won’t dry it out like many cleansers do. I would just massage this with my fingers and my skin would feel super clean but not tight or irritated as I always used to find with cleansers. However, with the changing seasons my skin has been acting up more than usual. I wouldn’t say that I have acne prone skin, but I do go through periods where my skin will just all of a sudden break out and I never know how to deal with it. Just a couple of days ago I picked up the Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser. I’ve been using the moisturiser for years so I thought that this might be a good try. So far I’m really liking it! The foam consistency is a nice change and it seems to control break outs fairly well. I’ll have a full review coming out for this soon so stay tuned! 😉

As I mentioned above, I’ve been using the Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturiser for years. I actually bought it based on recommendations by several people that all had oily skin like mine. It provides just enough moisture that I would need for the day without making my skin feel all greasy. I definitely think that this helps control blemishes without being as intense as a spot treatment so you can use it daily without worrying. The only downside to this product is that it doesn’t have any SPF so if you spend a lot of time outside you would still need to put on some sort of sunscreen.

My eyes are the only area that isn’t particularly sensitive, so I’m always more willing to try new eye creams as I don’t have to worry that I’ll have some sort of reaction to them. After going through at least 5 of the most popular eye creams on the market, I decided to try the Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Cream. This stuff is by far the most hydrating eye cream I have ever used. I like to warm it up between my ring fingers before gently patting it onto my eye area so that it glides on a little smoother. You really don’t need much of this stuff though! A little goes a very long way.

What are your go to skin care products? I’d love to try one of your favourites! Let me know if you’d like me to share my night time skin care routine! Thanks so much for stopping by ❤ have a  great week!
