Happy Sunday, friends! Hope you all had a great Black Friday weekend! Today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on one of Too Faced’s most popular products.
The Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is a medium/deep toned matte bronzer with their famous sweet chocolate scent. I got a deluxe size of this when I bought a little trial set with 5 of their best selling products. You all know that Benefit’s Hoola bronzer is my all time favourite so this one had a lot to compete with. I think the overall tone is nice but for my skin tone it borders on being too warm so you have to be careful when applying it.
I find that it looks really nice blended around the temples, cheeks and jawline to wake up your complexion and you can get get away with a really soft and subtle contour if you’re careful to not apply too much. My one complaint is that I find it tough to blend and since it’s such a deep tone that can be a serious issue. Building it up slowly with a fluffy powder brush seems to be the best way to deal with that.
Overall I think it’s a really nice matte bronzer with a fairly good tone. I think it works well in the summer time for those of us with fair skin and could work all year on deeper skin tones. Let me know your thoughts on the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer if you’ve tried it. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great Sunday.
Happy Thursday, friends! Today I’m bringing you a best and worst list of a few of the drugstore concealers that I’ve tried. I’ve never done a post like this so be sure to let me know if it’s something you’re interested in!
Concealers aren’t really something I’m super interested in so I don’t tend to try too many out. If I find one that has good coverage, that blends well and that lasts all day then I’m happy. I had heard a ton of hype surrounding the Maybelline Age Rewind concealers so I figured I’d give them a go. I looked around at the display and picked a shade that looked like it would match me the best. For concealers, I use them mainly under my eyes so I want something that is a touch brighter than my skin with a bit of a pink undertone. I thought that the shade Light looked like the closest one to what I wanted. Now I really liked how easily it blended out and I found that it gave decent coverage for such a thin formula. However, the shade was way too yellow to the point where it looked quite strange under my eyes. I also don’t love applicators where you have to click the product up because I find it can get really gunky. Unfortunately, this guy is a pass.
You guys know that the Revlon Colorstay Foundation is my holy grail foundation, so I thought I should try the Colorstay Concealer. Now, finding shades that work for my skin can often be difficult since I am so pale, but when looking at the selection I found all of the options looked really yellow but gave 02 Light a try anyway. First off, I found this guy to end up really streaky once you start to blend it out so it’s tough to get good coverage under the eyes. On blemishes it just kind of blends away to nothing and gives nearly no coverage at all. And just as I had expected, it was super yellow on my skin.
A concealer that I do love though is the Maybelline Fit Me. I have it in the shade Fair and find it to be just pink enough to cover up the blue tones under my eyes but it also matches the rest of my skin really well. I’ve never run into any problems with creasing or fading throughout the day, so this guy is a winner in my books!
I don’t have this one anymore but I do want to mention the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch concealers. These guys are really great highlighting concealers so if you’re looking to brighten up the under eye, or any part of the face, they’re great! They blend out super easily and are really nice and creamy.
What’s on your list for best and worst drugstore concealers? Let me know! Thank you all for hanging out today and I’ll see you on Monday!
Happy Friday, everyone! You guys seemed to really like part one of my haul that I posted on Monday so I’m really excited to share the second part with you. I have a nice mix of new finds in addition to repurchases so let’s get into it!
So one thing that I wanted to make sure I picked up was the Elf HD Undereye Setting Powder. This is a loose setting powder that is really brightening and also makes your concealer last all day without creasing. Elf is really tough to find in Canada and they’re only $3 so I figured I’d stock up. I’ve also been on the hunt for a drugstore brow pencil so I picked up the Nyx Micro Brow in Espresso. I haven’t used this yet but the colour seems like it would work really well and the formula is nice.
I have just finished yet another bottle of my much loved Revlon Colorstay Foundation so I wanted to pick up another. Fun fact: In the US this foundation has SPF 15 but because there are different laws regarding SPF in Canada, many products don’t have built in SPF. I made sure I grabbed it because you can’t go wrong with a little SPF. I also spotted the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and figured I’d grab another one since I’m running low. (Check out my Product Fave post for swatches and other info about this concealer!)
Then I wandered down the dangerous road of lippies. I have had my eye on these two products for ages and I finally caved and got them. The L’Oreal Colour Riche Lip Stick in Intense Fuchsia is a gorgeous bold pink that is just stunning in the summer! I also got Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob and this is seriously the perfect natural lip colour for me. It makes your lips look so nice and healthy and will work under any neutral lipstick.
So that is the end of my USA haul! Be sure to check out my Instagram @forallstylishstudents to see these products in action in my Face of the Day series! Thank you all so much for stopping by and hope you’ll stick around! 🙂
